Corax Foundation, an organiser of the Concours Inter-Universitaire de La Haye and The Hague Inter-University Law Debate Tournament, has opened a call for volunteers and interns to join the organization team of the Concours Inter-Universitaire de La Haye 2023 and The Hague Inter-University Law Debate Tournament 2023.
The Concours and the Tournament are two annual debate competitions with universities around the world, the Concours being a multi-disciplinary French-speaking debate competition, and the Tournament being a law-focused English-speaking debate competition. Both are public and live-streamed.
Position description
The position requires an ability to create, use, manage, retrieve, and sort content related to legal, political and/or diplomatic affairs. The position also requires having a good understanding of academic institutions and their international relations. The responsibilities include:
- research and analyse findings on various topics related to international affairs, economy, international law and policy-making;
- assist the organizing team of the competition with the creation and editing of materials for the competition and its networking events;
- attend meetings of the Management Team of the Corax Foundation and also General meetings;
- prepare visits to international organisations ;
- create and/or update databases;
The placement is remote and thus it is not required that the candidates be physically present in The Hague, Netherlands.
The length of the position will be decided on an individual basis with successful applicants. The minimum length of the internship is 2 months, and the maximum is 6 months. The start date and the duration of the placement will be decided based on the availability of the candidates and the organisational requirements.
Requirements
It is essential that applicants for this internship have strong communication and research skills, international networking skills (to very different cultures and backgrounds) demonstrative creativity and interest in current affairs (domestic and global). Good time management and the ability to work in a team are a must. Other requirements include:
- good command of English and French language (B2 minimum);
- teamwork with other members from regions of the world;
- good writing and research skills;
- understanding of current global affairs and trends; and
- ability to adapt to the virtual working environment.
